About Us

Stair Galleries was incorporated in June 2001. The company quickly established itself as a full-service auction house equipped to handle the sale of a single item or an entire estate.

In our first year and a half of business we sold over 3 thousand lots of fine estate antiques, fine art and decorations for over 3 million dollars. In our May 2002 sale we set a world record for the artist Paul Seifert, selling his watercolor depiction of a Wisconsin farm for $66,700. We have handled property from important estates and collections including Fred Hughes, Andy Warhol's business manager; Senator and Mrs. Terry Carpenter of Nebraska; the Elizabeth Arden Corporate collection; the collection of Anthony Ingrao, Inc. and the estates of Walter Rotan and Warren C. Fett.

We work closely with you to liquidate your property as painlessly as possible either by outright purchase or at one of our popular live auctions. We advertise extensively in 22 trade and local publications and regional playbills. We alert customers via email and postcard of our upcoming auctions. We have received very favorable press in the Maine Antiques Digest, The Antiques And The Arts Weekly and the December 2002 issue of Architectural Digest. The complete illustrated catalogue for each auction is posted to our website 2 weeks prior to the sale.

We are committed to providing expert service to meet the needs of each and every client.
